Third Full-Length Following 2013's Universally Acclaimed Victim of Love
Soul singer Charles Bradley's star has been on the rise since the release of his widely praised 2011 debut album No Time For Dreaming, and his ascent has continued long after the release of his triumphant second album, 2013's Victim of Love. Dubbed "The Screaming Eagle of Soul," the singer is proud to present his highly anticipated third album Changes, on Daptone imprint Dunham Records.
The album is named for his popular, "smoldering" (SPIN) cover of the Black Sabbath track. "I think about the lyrics very closely when I sing ‘Changes' and get emotional," notes Bradley. "It makes me think of my mother and the changes in my life since she passed away."
By now, Bradley's remarkable, against-all-odds rise has been well documented: how he transcended a bleak life on the streets and struggled through a series of ill-fitting jobs before finally being discovered by Daptone's Gabriel Roth. The documentary Charles Bradley: Soul of America, directed by Poull Brien, follows Bradley's extraordinary journey during the electrifying and transformative months leading up to the release of debut album No Time for Dreaming.
The year following the release of No Time For Dreaming was one triumph after another and Victim of Love saw Bradley emerging from his past heartaches stronger and more confident, overflowing with love to share. Victim of Love went on to receive overwhelming praise and was included on numerous "Best of 2013" lists while the album's title track was also named one of Rolling Stone's "Best Songs of 2013."
Produced by Thomas Brenneck and backed by Menahan Street Band, with Changes, the powerhouse performer brings music fans of all ages another unforgettable set of songs and will continue to bring his live shows to stages around the world.

Durand Jones & The Indications
Regular price $25.00 Save $-25.00In the fall of 2012, Jones left his small-town in Louisiana for the foothills of Indiana. Alto saxophone in tow he enrolled in the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. "Being a singer was never part of the plan," Jones admits. But soon enough he found his way in front of a rowdy rock-n-roll band belting out a rambunctious rendition of "Dock Of The Bay," to a basement full of drunken undergrads. That rowdy band unfolded into The Indications - comprised of Aaron Frazer (drums), Blake Rhein (guitar), Kyle Houpt (bass) and Justin Hubler (organ). Inspired by a handful of dusty and obscure 45s bearing names like The Ethics, Brothers of Soul and The Icemen, The Indications set out to make a record steeped in heavy drums, blown-out vocals, and deep grooves. Gathered around a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder and a case of Miller High-Life, the group spent their Sunday evenings recording into the early hours of the morning. With comparisons from Charles Bradley and Lee Fields to Al Green, the only thing that separates this band from those greats is their youth. Having now taken their raucous live show all across the US, the band have galvanized a following that are ready to take them to the next level.

As for King Overdosed he adds, "That's representing me, the times that I was, and am, afflicted by the same methods of escape." And Kill Our Demons, he explains, "That's the end goal: To face our shit, realize that we have some shit going on inside, everybody...whether it be from traumatic childhood experiences, whether it be from a lack of attention, confidence issues, insecurities. No Time For Dreaming

Charles Bradley's voice has evolved from a lifetime of paying dues, having nomadically labored for decades at various day jobs from Maine to Alaska, singing and performing in his spare time, before re-settling in his hometown of Brooklyn and eventually finding a musical home at Dunham/Daptone.
In his distinctively rough-hewn timbre one hears the unmistakable voice of experience, each note and gruff infection a reflection of his extended, sometimes rocky, personal path. It's only fitting that No Time For Dreaming's producer Thomas "Tommy TNT" Brenneck (also a member of The Dap-Kings and The Budos Band) would recognize in Bradley a kindred musical spirit, a singer whose performances exude both raw power and poignant beauty.
Recorded at Dunham Studios, and mixed at Daptone Records' internationally revered "House of Soul" Studios, No Time For Dreaming is the inspired sound of an awakening.

The Dock of the Bay
Regular price $27.00 Save $-27.00The Dock of the Bay is the first of a number of posthumously released Otis Redding albums, and his seventh studio album. It contains a number of singles and B-sides dating back to 1965 and one of his best known songs, the posthumous hit "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay". In 2003, the album was ranked number 161 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" is a song co-written by soul singer Otis Redding and guitarist Steve Cropper. It was recorded by Redding twice in 1967-once just days before his death in a December 10, 1967, plane crash. It was released after his death on Stax Records' Volt label in 1968, becoming the first posthumous single to top the charts in the US. It charted at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart. Redding started writing the lyrics to the song in August 1967, while sitting on a rented houseboat in Sausalito, California. He completed the song with the help of Stax producer and Booker T and the M.G.'s guitarist Steve Cropper. The song features mimicked seagull whistles and sounds of the waves crashing on the shore.
Let's Get It On
Regular price $35.00 Save $-35.00Limited 180 gram vinyl pressing of this 1973 album from the soul icon. Let's Get It On is the 13th studio album by Marvin Gaye. Serving as Gaye's first venture into the funk genre and romance-themed music, Let's Get It On incorporates smooth soul, doo-wop, and quiet storm. It has been noted by critics for it's sexually suggestive lyrics, and was cited by one writer as "one of the most sexually charged albums ever recorded." Following the breakthrough success of his socially conscious album What's Going On (1971), Let's Get It On helped establish Gaye as a sex icon and furthered his mainstream appeal. It produced three singles-the title track, "Come Get to This", and "You Sure Love to Ball"-that attained Billboard chart success. Let's Get It On became the most commercially successful album of Gaye's recording career, and it further expanded his creative control during his tenure with Motown.

Her elevation to 'royal' status is indeed not just a function of her hit making ability but of her unique inventiveness as a musician who fuses art and soul seamlessly. Indeed, it's often been said that Aretha could take 'happy birthday' and turn it into a veritable opus and while those who know her will testify to her culinary skills in the kitchen, it is her mastery as a musical chef that is evident on each and every one of those forty-plus albums, many of which have achieved gold and platinum status.
Absolutely [Explicit Content] (IEX Brown Vinyl)
Regular price $32.00 Save $-32.00Black Pumas (2 LP/7" Single Deluxe Edition)
Regular price $36.00 Save $-36.00Black Pumas is led by the creative partnership between Grammy Award-winning guitarist/producer Adrian Quesada and songwriter Eric Burton. The latter is a relative newcomer who arrived in Austin in 2015 after busking his way across the country from Los Angeles, while Quesada has a storied reputation for playing in bands like Grupo Fantasma and Brownout. After the two connected via friends in the Austin scene, they began to collaborate on a new sound that transmutes soul into something idiosyncratically modern.
Reminiscent of Ghostface Killah and Motown in equal measure, this original sound ensured that Black Pumas' weekly residency at C-Boys quickly became "the hottest party in town" (Austin-American Statesman). Produced by Quesada in his home studio and colored by Burton's dark imagery and haunting vocals, their Grammy-nominated eponymous 2019 debut is equally as indebted to East Coast hip-hop as it is to classic funk and soul, resulting in a project that is of the moment rather than retro. From the roiling, solar eclipse-inspired noir of "Black Moon Rising" to the ponderous yet epic "Oct 33," it's a stunner.
This Deluxe Edition reissue of their debut features the original album plus eleven bonus tracks, three new original songs and four covers, plus unreleased live material. The colored vinyl 2LP-set comes complete with a bonus 7" single, new artwork and unpublished studio and live photographs.
